Kindred Partners with Rockway Mennonite Collegiate for Envirathon Servathon
Kitchener – Kindred Credit Union announced that it has partnered with Rockway Mennonite Collegiate as presenting sponsor of the annual Rockway Envirathon Servathon.
Organized by Rockway Mennonite Collegiate students and faculty, this event sees more than 300 Rockway students, faculty, and staff make their way across the region to volunteer their hands and hearts to work for community organizations and environmental projects. On Monday, May 7, the Rockway Envirathon Servathon will help out at more than 15 different sites including MCC Ontario, House of Friendship, The Working Centre, and many more.
“We’re so excited to be part of this inspiring event,” notes Brent Zorgdrager, chief executive officer at Kindred. “It’s wonderful to watch our youth dig in to help local community organizations, doing good work that impacts their neighbours and cares for creation.”
Kindred’s partnership will support students and community hosts by funding event day expenses. Individual donors are encouraged to support the students’ efforts and with Kindred’s sponsorship support, Rockway can ensure that any donations are set aside for developing outdoor learning spaces at the school.
“Rockway is thrilled to have Kindred on board,” says Ann Schultz, Rockway’s Principal. “We’ve been hosting this community service event for many years, and this new partnership with Kindred allows students to focus on maximizing their impact in our community.”
Participation in the Rockway Envirathon Servathon will be boosted this year, when Kindred employees who have roots as proud Rockway alumni join in on the fun and volunteerism. You’ll be able to spot the hundreds of volunteers across Waterloo Region and beyond on May 7, 2018, wearing enthusiastic smiles, teal-coloured event t-shirts, and work gloves.
