Provincial Candidates Weigh in on Arts & Culture in WR
Kitchener, ON – THEMUSEUM will host A Cultural Exchange 6.0 on Tuesday, May 15. All local candidates in the upcoming provincial election from Kitchener and Waterloo have been invited to attend and discuss the importance of arts and culture in the Region. Members of cultural organizations and institutions will also be in attendance; the general public is also welcome. This marks the sixth Cultural Exchange event hosted by THEMUSEUM.
“This event is not a debate for candidates; it is an invitation and opportunity to foster discussion regarding the arts and culture community that exists within Waterloo Region,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “By giving candidates the opportunity to discuss their views with individuals working within the sector, the general public is better able to understand and support these organizations.”
Each candidate, in no particular order, will have up to three and a half minutes to share their position on arts and culture. This will then be followed by a five-minute discussion lead by arts and culture representatives and those in attendance.
Candidates will move from table to table to ensure they have a chance to meet with everyone throughout the evening. After each rotation, arts and culture representatives will be given time to speak about their organizations and upcoming projects.
Martin de Groot, the arts columnist for The Record, will MC the event.
Admission to A Cultural Exchange 6.0 is free, with a suggested donation of $5.00. Doors open at 6:15 and the exchange begins at 7:00pm sharp. This is a licensed event.
