Jan d’Ailly files Nomination Papers for Regional Chair
Last Thursday Jan d’Ailly submitted nomination papers for the position of Regional Chair for the Region of Waterloo.
Jan served as a Councillor with the City of Waterloo from 2003 to 2010 and is largely credited with bringing financial stability back to the City in the wake of the RIM Park financing debacle that left the City with 30 years of debt repayment at staggering rates.
He played a leadership role in establishing the 'Laurel Creek Headwaters Environmentally Sensitive Landscape' (ESL) that protects 5,500 acres of the Waterloo Moraine. This ESL model was then applied to protect other environmentally sensitive landscapes in the Region.
Jan championed turning Waterloo's existing recreational trails into an active transportation trail network reaching all corners of the City.
Jan places a high value on the role that Arts and Culture play in any vibrant community. He stepped up to ensure that a key cultural institution moved forward with a financially sound and sustainable plan to ensure their ongoing viability and contribution to the Region.
Jan brings an MBA and years of experience in senior business roles including at Babcock & Wilcox, GE Water and in the local tech sector.
More information will be provided after nominations close on July 27 2018.
