City of Waterloo Seeks Community Car Share Business

City of Waterloo Council approved a recommendation to begin negotiations with a Montreal - based for profit car - sharing company on a new agreement to replace the 2014 - 2019 agreement with the People’s Car Co-operative.

People’s Car Co-operative decided in November to dissolve the cooperative and sell its assets to VRTUCAR – a subsidiary of Communauto Inc. The negotiations with VRTUCAR includes the repayment of a $30,000 line of credit that had been provided to People’s Car Co-operative by the city by June 2019, as well as create new terms for using parking spaces in uptown.
