Leadership Waterloo Region’s 15th Annual Fire & Ice Gala honouring Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank Executive Director, Pat Singleton
Pat Singleton, who went from recipient to Executive Director of the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank, will be recognized for decades of outstanding service to the community at this year’s Leadership Waterloo Region Fire & Ice Gala.
Singleton, an alumnus of the Leadership Waterloo Region program, will receive a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Kitchener Conestoga.
The honour will be presented at this year’s 15th annual gala fundraiser Saturday, January 27th at Bingemans in Kitchener. Tickets to the event are still available.
Singleton was a single mother of four when she first became involved with the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank. From humble beginnings, operated out of the trunk of a car at the farmer’s market, the organization now serves 800 to 1,000 clients from its overstretched Ainslie Street warehouse. More than just a place to access much-needed groceries, the community agency also offers a hand-up through education and self-improvement. Singleton plans to retire in March, just short of 24 years as executive director.
The Fire & Ice Gala celebrates community leadership by raising funds for Leadership Waterloo Region’s leadership development programs.
This year’s event will feature live music, fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, live and silent auctions, a local art show and sale, and much more.
Honourary Gala Chairs are the late Steve and Eve Menich, known for helping to sculpt many community organizations throughout their four decades of philanthropy. They will be represented at the event by Steve Jr. and Mary Ellen Menich.
