Innovation Guelph & Bioenterprise Corporation present

The largest event of its kind in Guelph, featuring over 100 innovative companies, VIP guests and Keynote speaker Jon Duschinsky, social innovator, author and founder of bethechange – Social Impact Consultancy

Innovation Guelph and Bioenterprise Corporation are excited to announce they will be showcasing over 100 innovative companies from across Southern Ontario for the 2018 Innovation Expo! This huge event is free to the public and will take place on November 15th at the Hanlon Convention Centre from 12-6 p.m.

The Expo is a celebration of the great success and growth of the seed funding program recipients that both organizations have supported, with funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). This is an excellent opportunity for the public to learn about exciting developments from a variety of sectors, including Agri-Food, Agri-Tech, Manufacturing, Social Innovation, and Sustainable Technologies.

In addition to the tradeshow format, the event will feature important announcements and a Keynote presentation from Jon Duschinsky, a social innovator and thought leader who helps CEOs increase their brand value to sustainably grow revenues. His most recent venture, Oreka Solutions, is harnessing the power of insects to drive sustainability in agriculture. He was recently voted one of the world’s most influential communicators on social innovation, second only to Bill Clinton.

“We’re thrilled to share the many remarkable innovations being created and supported here in Guelph,” said Anne Toner Fung, Executive Director, Innovation Guelph. “Whether they’ve emerged from local companies, or from innovators who came to tap into Guelph’s recognized areas of expertise, this program has seeded exceptional creativity and sustainable economic growth.”

“The 2018 Innovation Expo highlights the exciting collaboration between Innovation Guelph and Bioenterprise as well as our clients’ successes,” said Dave Smardon, Bioenterprise Corporation President and CEO. “The outcomes of both organizations’ seed funding programs to date provide powerful evidence that the mix of funding, mentoring and business development services is helping these companies realize their potential and contribute to economic development in southern Ontario.”

“The Government of Canada is pleased to support programs such as this, which lead to long-term economic growth for southern Ontario. We are celebrating the ongoing commitment of Bioenterprise Corporation and its delivery partner, Innovation Guelph, to help innovative Canadian businesses grow and create quality jobs,” said Lloyd Longfield, Member of Parliament for Guelph, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario.

Since 2016, Innovation Guelph and Bioenterprise have collectively funded over 115 companies and helped bring over 135 new products, services and processes to market. Over $37 million dollars have been injected into our economy through new revenues and add-on investment, thanks to this program and the entrepreneurs’ hard work!
