More and more, vegan friendly dishes are being added to menus all over the world to accommodate dietary needs and changing interests.
For decades, the Charcoal Group of Restaurants has dedicated time and passion into creating dishes that withstood the test of time with top quality ingredients in every restaurant menu. With a sweeping change in the food industry and dietary palettes, the company had a mission to create a menu for vegans to enjoy that wouldn’t hold back on flavour and creativity.
“Now, more than ever, Canadians are changing the way they eat,” says Todd Clarmo, Executive Chef of Charcoal Group. “Restaurant-goers are looking for variety and we’re seeing more and more people seeking out plant-based options and vegan friendly meals when they go out to eat. That’s why I wanted to curate a menu that was creative and crave-able for everyone.”
Beertown Public House and Sociable Kitchen + Tavern are two of the company’s restaurants that have added 15 vegan friendly dishes to each of their menus. As plant-based proteins are essential to the diet of so many, the addition of these vegan friendly menus accommodates the changing food industry while ensuring vegans have options when visiting restaurants.
“People are changing the way they eat for various reasons, but for those seeking plant-based options, or just meat-eaters wanting to give something new a try, finding creative, delicious plant-based options is an exciting challenge,” says Clarmo.
With requests for vegan friendly options becoming more common, it is important that restaurants are accommodating to every palette and adapting in a way that doesn’t compromise flavour and quality for a plant-based dish.
“For me, it was the simple chatter from all of our Team Members who constantly modify their staff meals to their vegan needs,” says Clarmo. “I realized it was something that needed to be accommodated, not only for them, but for our guests.”

Vegan Faux Taco
Battered meatless chick’n, shredded cabbage, cilantro, pico de gallo, guacamole, chipotle aioli, lime, scallions, hot sauce.
Vegan Asian Bowl
Sesame seared tofu, brown rice, edamame, avocado, cucumber, spiral carrots, kale, nori, pickled ginger, wasabi, soy dressing.
Vegan California Burger
Veggie patty, soy cheddar, guacamole, pickled onions, iceberg, tomato, chipotle aioli, toasted vegan bun.
Vegan DIY Meatless Chick’n + Sesame Lettuce Wraps
Korean slaw, peanuts, ponzu aioli, cilantro.
