Carizon counters the winter blahs by proposing self-care during the month of February
Kitchener - An agency dedicated to mental health and wellness, Carizon knows that February can be a tough month for succumbing to the winter blahs. The Carizon team also recognizes the value of self-care in achieving wellness. So during the month of February, Carizon is promoting self-care to their employees and the community to help counter the winter blahs.
“The cold weather can also limit one’s access to their usual stress relief and coping mechanisms,” says Shannon Nicholson, Director of Clinical Counselling. “Dedicating time this month towards self-care is a great opportunity to manage stress.”
“We looked at the month and saw that we celebrate Valentine’s Day, which is all about caring for our significant others, and Family Day, which is caring for our families,” says Tracy Elop, CEO, “but, where is the day that we celebrate taking care of ourselves?”
As part of promoting self-care during the month of February, Carizon has designated Wednesday, February 21st at Carizon as “Me Day.” While they are promoting self-care activities for their staff throughout the month around physical, emotional, social and financial wellness, they’d also like to reach out to the community to join in some self-care activities on February 21st “Me Day.” They propose that the people of Waterloo Region engage in at least one self-care activity and they challenge workplaces to undertake a self-care activity for their team during the day. They invite all to share their activities on Twitter @carizon and to use the hashtag #MEdayWR.
