CFFB’s Signature Series Launches with Dirk Schlimm: Influencing Powerful People

Business owners and advisors that support family enterprises are invited to the Centre for Family Business’s (CFFB) Signature Event of the year on Friday April 26th at 7am.

In the age of transformational technological change and disruption, technical know-how is no longer sufficient. Building influence and strong working relationships with people in positions of power is in high demand. This CFFB Signature Event will be sure to inspire, challenge and encourage you in your pursuit of greater influencing skills.

“This is turning out to be a fantastic first event for the launch of our Signature Program. We’re already 76% sold out, with a little over three weeks to go”, says Bryan Huck, Executive Director of the CFFB.

Dirk Schlimm is an expert on executive effectiveness, leadership and collaboration in organizations and author of “Influencing Powerful People” (McGraw-Hill, New York). Dirk has had the opportunity to learn about leadership behavior firsthand from such leadership experts as Peter Drucker, Jim Collins and Michael Porter.

During this keynote session, Dirk will explore the following topics:

• Understanding founders and other powerful people and what drives them
• Making your ideas count and persevering through conflict
• Helping powerful people change their mind
• Becoming a trusted advisor

Rick Baker, VP, CFFB board of directors, writes; “We are working to ensure this special CFFB event raises the stature of family businesses in our community. Dirk captures everyone in his audiences as he shares wisdom, injects humour, and role-plays in ways that bring real-life to his messages.”

Ian McLean, President & CEO of The Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce recognizes the significance of family enterprises in the Waterloo Region. “We appreciate our affiliate membership with the Centre for Family Business. As one of our strategic priorities, building meaningful partnerships are key to our community’s success, so we are happy to support the CFFB in bringing such an important topic to this region”.
