United Way Waterloo Region Communities’ 2nd Annual Spirit Awards

Waterloo Region - United Way Waterloo Region Communities is pleased to invite community members to join them on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 for a celebration honouring more than 40 individuals and organizations nominated for the organization’s Spirit Awards.

The 2nd annual Spirit Awards will take place May 9th at 5:30 pm at Whistle Bear Golf Club, 1316 Dickie Settlement Rd. in Cambridge. Tickets can be purchased at

“This ceremony not only honours those who have helped their community,” says CEO Joan Fisk. “It allows us to demonstrate the persistent need in Waterloo Region and how we continue to encourage the community to come together to address those needs. Unfortunately poverty is not going away, and neither are we. United Way plays a crucial role in funding the important programs and services our partner agencies provide to the community. We are second only to government when it comes to funding those important programs.”

Fisk says that without the exemplary dedication and commitment of donors and volunteers, United Way Waterloo Region Communities could not continue to do what needs to be done. “As a result of their selfless commitment, United Way and our partner agencies can continue to build the support systems needed to make Waterloo Region a place where everyone can live their best lives.”

The organization is also proud to announce its inaugural Ken Seiling Community Leader Award. This award will recognize an exemplary public leader who, through extraordinary contributions and outstanding commitment, has driven the spirit of community through personal involvement and initiative.
