The Kindred Credit Union Hike for Hospice: Supporting End of Life Care

Kitchener – Kindred has joined with Hospice of Waterloo Region for the third year as presenting partner of the Kindred Credit Union Hike for Hospice. This annual five kilometre walk or run raises funds for the programs and services offered by Hospice of Waterloo Region, including the Community Outreach Hospice Services program.

Hospice of Waterloo Region’s vision is to create a community where no one experiences an end of life alone. The Kindred Credit Union Hike for Hospice is one of Hospice of Waterloo Region’s main fundraisers, supporting programs that bring comfort and care to more than 1,400 people each year.

“This partnership speaks volumes about our mutual commitment to bringing peace and comfort to people and their families at the end of life’s journey,” notes Ian Thomas, Kindred’s Chief Executive Officer. “We’re pleased to support a local agency that shares our values and reflects our purpose.”

The Kindred Credit Union Hike for Hospice will be held on Sunday, September 22, on the beautiful trails of Laurel Creek Conservation Area in Waterloo.

Registration starts at Laurel Creek at 9:00 a.m. A memorial reflection and moment of contemplation for those who have been served in the past year will begin at 10:00, and hikers will head to the trails at 10:30. A free barbecue lunch will start at 11:30, followed by entertainment and prizes.

“We are very thankful for Kindred’s support,” states Judy Nairn, Executive Director at Hospice of Waterloo Region. “Our collaboration, which is key to the success of our event, demonstrates the positive social impact that can be achieved when a community comes together for a great cause.”

To register, sponsor a participant, or learn more about the event, please visit is distributed twice weekly; Tuesday and Thursday
