Perfect Pitch Event Raises $14,000 plus for local Charities

Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region (SVPWR) announced that the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region is the recipient of the Perfect Pitch Audience’s Choice Award and Teens’ Choice Award.

At Perfect Pitch 2019 on Tuesday night, speakers from seven local charities proved they could do all of those things, with conviction and style, in front of a sold-out audience at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo.

All of the charities who participated, including: Anishnabeg Outreach, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region, Button Factory Arts, Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region Foundation, Hummingbird Centre for Hope, and Monica Place came away as winners, as each audience member directed their ticket proceeds to the charity of their choice at the end of the night. Thanks to our generous sponsors, SVPWR could also give a graduation prize to all seven charities for completing the program, bringing the total of funds collected for these organizations to over $14,000.

As part of the first pitch program in Waterloo Region designed for the charitable sector, teams received valuable guidance from dedicated coaches from the business and startup worlds at workshops through the fall, building their ability to tell their organization’s story with power and clarity.

Stephen Jackson, CEO of Anishnabeg Outreach and one of the event’s speakers, notes: “It was the amazing and transformative experience I had hoped it would be. I am quite excited about the new connections, friendships, budding partnerships and even donations. Most important is the significantly raised awareness of the transformative work we do, our organization profile, the way we do business, and access to new networks.”
