Music and Art Combine For A Concert Featuring Speed Painter JESSGO

Canadian artist Jessica Gorlicky (JESSGO) brings her urban chic style and live, colorful creations to the KWS stage for Pops and Paints on February 22 and 23 at 8 pm at Centre In The Square. Led by conductor Lucas Waldin, the concert features a unique blend of art and music as speed painter JESSGO creates three unique works of art live onstage while the orchestra plays. Featured music includes hits by David Bowie, George Gershwin, John Williams and The Beatles. The concert also features Maxime Goulet’s Symphonic Chocolates, which pairs a chocolate with each movement. Chocolates will be available for purchase to enjoy along with the piece.

Traveling across Canada as a live painter, Jessica was inspired to start a series of YouTube videos titled Art In Motion, bringing the energy of the stage onto the street. Her videos, which show her painting a live portrait in minutes on the subway, in alleyways, on the beach, and even in the aisles of a moving plane, have gone viral, generating thousands of hits. A unique artist and individual, Jessica ensures her individuality is reflected in her work by only creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Jessica has worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, L’Oréal Fashion, House of Moments, Twist Gallery, Galerie 203 in Montreal, Norman Felix Gallery, Lululemon, Nuit Blanche, City TV’s Breakfast Television and Sotheby’s Art Auction. This is Jessica’s debut with an orchestra.

Lucas Waldin is a dynamic and versatile conductor whose flair for audience engagement and passion for performance have delighted audiences across North America. Lucas joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as Resident Conductor in 2009 and was subsequently appointed Artist-in-Residence and Community Ambassador (2012-2016), the first position of its kind in North America. He has appeared with the KWS several times, most recently on the 2016-17 Pops Series for Skating’s Greatest Hits.
