Youth Organization Helps Make a Difference Overseas
Girls For Change (GFC) Canada is a local Waterloo/Kitchener youth organization. It was formed in 2019 by Hana Rauf who is in grade 10. GFC Canada passion has been around helping young girls make a difference, locally and overseas in developing countries. Encouraging young girls to thrive in education and becoming the leaders of tomorrow. GFC Canada believes in empowering young girls to pursue careers in STEM field, trades, entrepreneurship and much more.
2019 has been an amazing start for GFC Canada. Their initiatatives are geared towards helping local communities by collecting food donations for The Kitchener Food Bank, donating to the Toy Drive for Domino’s Pizza, gathering collection of clothing for Salvation Army, participating in collection of old jeans for The United Way and holding a booth @ The Build A Dream event in Kitchener to promote GFC Canada to over 250 girls.
For 2020 goal, GFC Canada is aiming to raise $3,500 for installation of clean water well system for girls in developing countries. Girls walk daily from 6km to 8km just to fetch water for their families, making it impossible for them to get an education. With clean water infrastructure/well in place girls will have an opportunity to attend school and get an education.
GFC Canada will be holding a fund raising event for Mother’s Day on Saturday May 9th 2020 from 10am till 1pm. The event will take place @ Button Factory Arts in Waterloo. Enjoy delicious brunch, motivational speakers, giveaways, prizes, photo booth, games and more…..remember to bring cash to win raffle prizes.
All proceeds raised through the Mother’s Day brunch will be donated towards building the water well. Each ticket is $25. For ticket purchase please visit snapd.at/pewcrre .
