Ethanol plants depend on livestock to consume the dried distiller's grain, (DDGs) a co-product of ethanol production. Ethanol plants will have to pay a lot more to dry and ship the co-product if they don't have local livestock.

Out of the 11,950 persons in 16 countries that were polled within the framework of the 2007 AXA Retirement Scope, Canadians older than 35 proved to be among the most pessimistic respondents (50% of people 35-44 and 58% of those 45-54 would say yes), together with their counterparts in Germany (34% of people 35-44 and 43% of those 45-54), the United States (34% of those 35-44 and 46% of those 45-54) and the United Kingdom (46% of those 35-44 and 51% of those 45-54).
