In August, despite the strong advance in the housing sector, weakening gasoline prices slowed down the 12-month growth of prices paid by consumers. Between August 2005 and August 2006, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) posted a 2.1% increase, falling back for a third consecutive month.

Kitchener --In yet another demonstration of the added value Waterloo Region's Catholic Schools bring to the community, the Catholic School Board today announced more than $400,000 was raised for charity in Catholic schools and administrative centres during the 2005-06 school year - bringing the total raised by the Board for charity since 1998 to almost $2.5 million.

G-7 to Warn China Over Costly Loans To Poor Countries
“The US and its major allies are warning China not to overload poor countries in Africa and elsewhere with high-priced loans they can ill afford to repay. Top economic officials from the Group of Seven (G7) nations plan to meet [Saturday] in Singapore, where they are expected to issue a statement that, among other things, criticizes China and other big developing countries for promoting exports to their poorer brethren by providing expensive trade financing, according to Timothy Adams, US Treasury undersecretary for international affairs.
