MKS Announces Preliminary Second Quarter Results for Fiscal 2007

Waterloo - MKS Inc. announced preliminary results for the second quarter of fiscal 2007. MKS expects to report second quarter fiscal 2007 revenue in the range of $11.3 to $11.6 million, compared to revenue of $11.5 million reported in the second quarter of fiscal 2006 and down from revenue of $12.6 million the first quarter of fiscal 2007.

Labour Force Survey October 2006

Employment increased by an estimated 51,000 in October following four months of little change. The unemployment rate declined 0.2 percentage points to 6.2%. Since the beginning of the year, employment has increased by 261,000 (+1.6%).

Small businesses lead Canada's productivity gains, says RBC Economics

TORONTO - Canada's micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses are experiencing much faster productivity gains than their larger peers, according to a new report by RBC Economics.According to the report by RBC Economics, small- to medium-sized businesses across Canada increased their productivity by annual growth rates of between 2.5 and 3 per cent from 2000 to 2005, whereas their larger competitors increased productivity by only 0.5 per cent per year.
