Germany To Urge Greater Global Co-Operation.

"Germany will on Wednesday urge the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) to work together better in managing the social and environmental impacts of globalization.

Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor and the current chair of the G8 ...has invited the heads of the three multilateral institutions, plus those of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Labor Organization (ILO), for talks in Berlin on creating 'fair conditions for a social and open world economy'...

The rare meeting of the heads of all five agencies ...aims to promote better coordination of climate change initiatives, policies on international social and environmental standards, and efforts to protect intellectual property rights, according to people familiar with the agenda. ..."
