Organizational Changes

City of Guelph fine tunes its organizational structure

Changes, though minor, expected to continue to build stability and allow City to meet community needs.

GUELPH - Effective today, the City of Guelph has implemented some minor adjustments to its organizational structure that will help build stability, and which better reflect the needs of the organization.

The adjustments are as follows:

1. An Information Services department has been re-established. Approximately 47 staff formerly part of Corporate Services will now make up the Information Services department. Lois Giles, City Clerk, will serve as director. There are no job losses or additions as a result of this adjustment.

2. Economic Development & Tourism Services will now report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer. Peter Cartwright will continue to lead the department as General Manager. There are no job losses or additions as a result of this adjustment.

Hans Loewig, the City of Guelph’s Chief Administrative Officer, presented the proposed adjustments and received support from City Council last night. Part of the CAO’s mandate, as established by Council at time of hire, was to review the City’s existing organizational structure and make recommendations as to how it could be improved. The minor changes effective today fulfill that mandate. The adjustments were developed collaboratively with the City of Guelph’s senior management team, and are supported by Council.
