Hydro One Chair will not seek Reappointment

TORONTO - Rita Burak, Chair of the Board of Directors of Hydro One Inc., has informed the Minister of Energy that she will not be seeking reappointment in the new year.

"This was a difficult decision for me," said Burak. "I have truly enjoyed my six years on the Hydro One Board and nearly five years as Chair and I am proud of our accomplishments - the Company is very sound both financially and operationally. I am also pleased to be leaving the company in the capable hands of my fellow board members, our CEO and her great team."

Ontario Energy Minister Gerry Phillips praised Burak for her exceptional leadership at Hydro One and her broader, invaluable contributions to the people of Ontario.

"Ms. Burak has done an exceptional job with the Board of Hydro One," said Minister Phillips. "It is with great reluctance, but complete understanding, that we accept her decision to devote more of her time to the most important endeavour in life - family. She will carry our best wishes when she completes her appointment as Chair this spring."

Ms. Burak will continue as Chair until the Minister of Energy appoints a successor in the new year.
