National Film Board of Canada extends DVD distribution deal with Koch Canada

TORONTO - The National Film Board of Canada has announced that it is extending its DVD distribution agreement with Koch Entertainment Canada for another two years. Koch Entertainment Canada is a wholly owned division of publicly traded global independent entertainment content ownership and distribution company Entertainment One Ltd. The NFB is currently in the third year of the deal, signed in March 2006.

With the extension, the NFB is granting Koch the rights to distribute more of its back catalogue for release on DVD, up to 25 hours of additional programming per year - making more NFB classics available to more Canadians.

"We are pleased that the National Film Board has chosen to extend the sales, license and marketing agreement with Entertainment One's Koch Canada division. The National Film Board is as prestigious an institution as one will ever hope to be associated with in Canada," said Dominique Zgarka, President Koch Entertainment Canada.

"The NFB Collection is a treasure trove of great Canadian stories. Koch's expertise in DVD distribution offers one more way in which all Canadians can enjoy the NFB's incredible back catalogue on DVD," said Johanne St-Arnauld, Director General of NFB Distribution.

This April will see the DVD release of The Champions, Donald Brittain's landmark series on Pierre Elliott Trudeau and Rene Levesque. Bestselling NFB titles to date via the Koch Canada agreement include Canada Remembers; The Last Round: Chuvalo vs. Ali; Ladies and Gentlemen... Mr. Leonard Cohen; and the French-language music documentary Symphonie Locass.
