Founder Johannes Schmalz would be proud to know that the razor blade factory he founded in the early 1900’s has grown and adapted successfully to changing technologies for almost a century. In 1948, when electric razors were introduced to the marketplace, Schmalz reinvented itself by embracing another new development - the fledgling airline industry - and began producing light vehicles and airport trolleys. It was the third generation of the Schmalz family, brothers Kurt and Wolfgang, who in 1984 began to propel the company to its present position as a leading manufacturer of vacuum technology to meet the needs of their diverse and technologically-driven clientele.
