International Languages Program Celebrates 30 Years

Kitchener – This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board’s successful International Languages Elementary Program.

The program serves more than 1,100 students in 12 languages: Polish, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Croatian, Turkish, Tgrigna, Russian, Ukrainian, and a new addition - Rusyn.

To celebrate this milestone, the St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Centres’ International Languages Program is planning a special event with the theme “Language Begins With A Mother” – in recognition of the role mothers play in language development in most world cultures.

The event will showcase the achievements of the International Languages Elementary Program through student and community displays, activities and performances.

WHERE: Kitchener City Hall Rotunda
WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2008 – 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
