Emergency Public Meeting re: proposed power plant

Toronto - There will be a public meeting, organized by the King Countryside Stewardship Alliance, this Sunday (March 30th) to discuss the proposed 350 megawatt power plant for Northern York Region (Newmarket, Aurora, King Township, etc.).

Designed to operate in the least efficient way possible (simple cycle), the proposed Northern York Region plant is an expensive and inefficient way to deal with a problem that can be better solved by creating proper incentives and policies for reducing peak demand.

This is your chance to meet with other concerned citizens to discuss alternatives and options and to show your support for a more sustainable electricity system. Don’t miss this meeting!

Date: Sunday, March 30, 2008
Time: 3 PM
Location: Waterstone, 17900 Dufferin Street, ½ km north of Highway #9, King Township
