Corix Utilities and West Capital Developments Reach Agreement to Provide Vital Infrastructure for Canada's Premier Airpark
VANCOUVER/OTTAWA - The Corix Group of Companies and West Capital Developments have reached an agreement for Corix to be responsible for the water and wastewater infrastructure for a 1,000 acre airpark development within the City of Ottawa.
The West Capital Airpark will be a dynamic, mixed-used aviation community in the west end of Ottawa that will integrate aviation into a residential and business community. The Airpark will appeal to pilots and frequent users of aviation services as well as those wishing to live in a secure, upscale aviation-based community. It is also expected to attract businesses with corporate aircraft and businesses that provide aviation products and services.
Construction of the infrastructure is scheduled to begin in 2008 and it is anticipated that the first phase of occupancy will take place in 2009. In addition to the design, construction and finance components of the project, Corix will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the water and wastewater infrastructure on an ongoing basis.
"Working with West Capital Developments on this unique community has given us the opportunity to draw on all of our strengths including our multi-utility approach where we will provide water and wastewater solutions. We will also work with West Capital Developments on the potential to integrate other sustainable applications like GeoExchange," said Ken Morrison, Director of Ontario Operations for Corix.
"The signing of the Corix deal represents a major milestone in bringing our vision for Canada's premier airpark to fruition," said John Phillips, president of West Capital Developments. "Working with Corix over the past few months we have come to appreciate both the depth of their expertise and the breadth of their success in the construction and operation of municipal and private infrastructures and we are pleased to have them as our lead partner in providing services for the West Capital Airpark."
