Education - WLU Strike

Tentative deal reached between Wilfrid Laurier University and union representing part-time faculty

WATERLOO, ON – Wilfrid Laurier University and the Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty Association, the union representing the striking Contract Academic Staff members, have reached a tentative agreement, which now requires ratification by both parties.

“The teams worked very hard all through the day and night Thursday to find a solution to the impasses that led to the strike, and finished ironing out the final details of the back-to-work protocol at 2:30 this morning,” Dr. Max Blouw, Laurier president and vice-chancellor said.

“This has been an extremely difficult time for everyone, especially our students. I want to recognize the dedication of everyone at the bargaining table in working diligently to reach a deal,” he continued. “I look forward to welcoming our CAS colleagues back once the tentative agreement has been ratified.”
