Next Generation Wireless
Rogers rolls out next generation wireless network in Atlantic region - Halifax and Moncton now offering broadband wireless data services
TORONTO - Rogers announced the availability of its 3G high-speed wireless network and Rogers Vision services in Moncton and Halifax. With this major expansion, Rogers becomes the fastest and most advanced network from coast to coast. Moreover, following a successful trial announced in late 2007, Moncton and Halifax become the first cities in the Western Hemisphere to commercially offer 7.2 Mbps wireless services, making mobile download speeds the fastest in the country and in the top 5% worldwide.
"This major expansion reinforces Rogers as Canada's fastest and most
advanced wireless network from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast," said
Rob Bruce, President, Rogers Wireless. "It also confirms Rogers as the first
in the Western Hemisphere and one of the leading carriers in the world to take
their customers to the next level with the blazingly fast speeds of
cutting-edge 3.5 G technology."
Rogers is the first and only wireless carrier in North America to offer
true wireless video calling. The Rogers Vision suite of services operates on
Rogers' next generation (3G) High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network. With
Rogers Vision, customers can communicate in entirely innovative ways with
mobile multimedia and visual services, like Video on Demand, including online
community sites like MySpace and YouTube; over 25 channels of Mobile
Television and video programs with incredible clarity; Radio on Demand,
featuring live XM Satellite radio channels; and Rogers MusicStore with more
than 1.8 million music tracks. In addition, the Rogers HSPA network allows
business customers to save time by taking their high-speed broadband office
experience on the road and even abroad with incredibly fast wireless Internet
and multimedia access. Rogers customers can roam with GSM in over 200
countries and to any of the 80 countries where HSPA networks have been
deployed. According to the GSA (Global Mobile Suppliers Association), 116
commercial HSPA operators worldwide support speeds of 3.6Mbps or higher.

Rogers is offering state-of-the-art handsets to enable Rogers Vision
suite of services to come to life, including the Sony Ericsson K850, LG Shine
