OCEANSIDE FARMER'S MARKET
It is a farmers market and more. You will be thrilled with the entertainment, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, cheese, baked goods, flowers, interactive kids area, artisans, crafters and foods from around the world! SUNSET MARKET

SUMMERGATE ANNIVERSARY May 3

THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP May 3 & 4
The Southern California Beach Soccer Championship is the largest beach soccer event this side of the Mississippi. The huge sports festival is expecting the best youth and adult sand warriors from all over the World including players and teams from Brazil, Portugal, Canada, Nigeria, Mexico, NJ, VA, FL, NM, NV, AZ, and CA.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and 4th, more than 10,000 players and spectators will hit the beach each day at the Harbor in Oceanside for a weekend of sun, sand and soccer. CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION - FIESTA EN LA PLAYA May 4
"Fiesta en la Playa" is one of the biggest Cinco de Mayo celebrations in San Diego County. People can enjoy traditional food, family entertainment and live music, as well as receive information and giveaways from various sponsors. BEACH FUN DAY - May 16
"Beach Fun Day" is a wonderful day of fun at the beach for children with special needs. This event includes a static display area, games, contests, barbeque lunch, half hour harbor cruise, entertainment and fishing. Each child will get a "Beach Fun Day" t-shirt for their participation. ARTS ALIVE - May 16
The 40 banners, which have lined the street of downtown Oceanside, painted by artists primarily from Oceanside and Carlsbad, have managed to evoke "Oh Oceanside" from visitors and residents alike. On May 16th there will be an art auction and these beautiful banners will be auctioned off at the Elks Lodge is to kick off the 2008 Oceanside Fireworks Fundraiser. Among the 40 banners are various views of the Oceanside Municipal Pier and Band Shell, beach scenes, dolphins and surfboards. OPERATION APPRECIATION - May 17
Operation Appreciation is a daylong celebration to thank the military and their families for their dedication. The Day includes entertainment, food, military displays and a large children's area. MISSION SAN LUIS REY POW WOW June 13 June 15
Be welcomed into the inner-circle of the San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians: Discover local tribal history and spiritual traditions. Experience "behind-the-scenes" access of the Pow-Wow festivities. Participate in demonstrations of Pow-Wow dancing, drumming, basket-weaving and sand painting. Enjoy opportunities for quiet reflection time. Check-in is from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The Pow-Wow begins with a gathering at 6:00 pm followed by dinner. The retreat ends Sunday at 5:00 pm. JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION June 14
Juneteenth Celebration is a multicultural street fair to celebrate the ending of slavery in the United States. Some come for the music as the sounds of jazz, gospel and blues fill the air. Some come for the food with the smells of street vendors and barbeque. Whatever the reason, come and join in the fun at this year's Juneteenth celebration!

SCULPTURE COMPETITION June 21
The Oceanside Arts Commission is proud to announce the first Outdoor Sculpture Competition to take place at the City Hall Plaza in downtown Oceanside. FREEDOM DAY PARADE June 28
"SYMBOLS OF FREEDOM" is the theme this year for the Freedom Day parade. Come and see floats, bands, walking groups, cool cars and much more. The parade will start in front of the 101 Cafe at 10:00 a.m. and works its way north on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive (just past City Hall). YANKEE DOODLE DINGHY PARADE July 4
More than 20 small boats decorated in patriotic themes will cruise the Oceanside Harbor during the Yankee Doodle Dinghy Parade. Stroll along the 175 artisan booths displaying handmade crafts, jewelry, art, clothing, and more. There will be live entertainment, a food court, kid's zone, and silent and live auctions. Christmas in July will be located adjacent to the historic San Luis Rey Mission at 4070 Mission Ave., Oceanside. The live auction will be on Sunday the 13th. Come and walk San Diego County's first and only lavender labyrinth. The Lavender Fields is a certified organic, nine-acre lavender farm in the foothills of the Palomar Mountains in northern San Diego County, California. They grow dozens of varieties of French and English lavender. With over 10,000 plants they cut enough bundles for all of their home-made products from baskets to wreaths. The Lavender Fields farm and shops features essential oil distillery, a wool shed with products handmade on-site, animal pastures including sheep and llamas, and gift shop with over 100 lavender-oriented items and plants. Admission is free.
At 10:30 each weekend morning there is a Walk & Talk' tour at no charge. They will meet on the porch of the main gift shop and be happy to answer your lavender questions and discuss the various home gardening issues you may have with your lavender. The Lavender Fields farm and shops will be open for the 2008 season on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 5 beginning on May 3 through June 29th.
