Young Alberta Entrepreneur Wins National Best Business Award from the Canadian Youth Business Foundation
TORONTO - Colin Davison had a dream to open his own business and with financial and mentoring assistance from the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), his dream became reality. Now, two years later, Davison and his Calgary-based business, Stealth Acoustical & Emission Control Inc., has been named CYBF's 2008 National Best Business Award Winner, coupled with a $20,000(*) grant for business expansion.
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) honoured Davison and seven
other Canadian entrepreneurs and an outstanding mentor and community partner
at their annual CYBF Chairman's Awards Gala last night in Toronto, presented
by Bayview Residences of Victoria, B.C and national media sponsor, the
National Post.
"Canada's youth are the drivers of our economic future," says CYBF CEO,
Vivian Prokop. "By helping them get started and mentoring them during the
challenging two year start-up period, we are making dreams become reality.
Colin is a great example of that and we are proud to honour his
accomplishments."
Along with the young entrepreneurs, their mentors and the community
partners who guide their way, CYBF honoured two internationally-renowned
business leaders - Mr. Michael Lee-Chin, Chairman, Portland Holdings Inc. and
Mr. Serge Godin, Founder and Executive Chairman, CGI Group Inc. Both received
the 2008 CYBF Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions
to Canada's entrepreneurial spirit.
Also in attendance at the Gala was Clive Beddoe, Executive Chairman and
Co-Founder of WestJet, and CYBF mentor champion. At the Gala, CYBF announced a
new fundraising partnership with WestJet, where any WestJet flight booked
through a link on www.cybf.ca will see two per cent of the ticket price going
back to CYBF to fund programming for Canada's aspiring young entrepreneurs.
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is a national charity that
