Laurier business student wins national entrepreneurship competition
WATERLOO Laurier School of Business & Economics student Christopher Carmichael has won the national Wes Nicol Entrepreneurial Award in a competition against students from Acadia University, Carleton University, University of Guelph, University of Ottawa, and the University of Waterloo.
Carmichael was successful in presenting his unique business model for remanufactured ink cartridges, as well as his passion for entrepreneurship and explaining how his business gives back to the community.
His company, Campus Ink, promotes entrepreneurship through investment in businesses in developing countries and supports student entrepreneurial development at a number of post-secondary institutions.
A second-year business student, Carmichael competed in the Laurier Entrepreneurship Challenge and the Nicol LaunchPad $50K competition to earn a shot at the national Wes Nicol Entrepreneurial Award.
“Chris has worked hard to produce a well-thought-out business plan and we are proud of his success at such a high level. We hope to see Campus Ink grow to great heights both at Laurier and abroad,” said Steve Farlow, executive director of Laurier’s Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship.
The prestigious Wes Nicol Entrepreneurial Award is a national non-profit competition designed to promote entrepreneurship at Canadian post-secondary institutions.
