THE SIXTH ANNUAL HEARTWOOD BLUES!
Kitchener - On March 2, 2008 - At the Stampede Corral. Headliner is Big James & The Chicago Playboys! The Chicago Playboys rocked the main stage of the Chicago Blues Festival featuring Nellie Travis and Phil Guy. Big James has also shared the stage with Eric Clapton, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Public Announcement, Dan Ackroyd, Larry Coryell & Lou Rawls.
Lucky Peterson, called “a master of the guitar, organ, and microphone,” by The New Yorker, makes many high visibility appearances. Known for his fluid, biting electric guitar leads and vibrant Hammond B-3 lines, this performance will demonstrate a different side as he hits the stage armed with an acoustic guitar.
Shakura S'aida will perform with the Lance Anderson Trio. S’Aida’s career spans many genres and has taken her to some of the most noted stages in the Jazz world. She has been nominated twice as the Maple Blues “Female Vocalist of the Year” She has also been named “Best Female R&B Vocalist” by Real Blues Magazine. Kitchener’s own Shawn Kellerman will perform a sizzling guitar set. Recognized for defining modern blues, Shawn’s new compositions draw from elements of rock, soul, jazz and hip hop to create an impressive crossover sound. Shawn interprets a union of past and present and delivers with ferocious authenticity.
Daddy Long Legs combines powerhouse harmonica and vintage guitar tones to deliver a rousing package of swinging, postwar jump blues. They will open and get the place jumping with their goodtime music. This group has been a hit at previous Heartwood Blues. Here’s a great opportunity to hear them again!
