WLU - New Dean
Faculty of Science announces new associate dean
WATERLOO Dr. David Vaughan, a professor in Laurier’s Mathematics Department, has been appointed to the position of associate dean of science: planning and priorities. His term started on January 1.

In his new position, Vaughan will work with faculty, staff and students to develop strategic plans for the Faculty of Science, including the development of undergraduate, graduate and research programs. As part of Laurier’s visioning process, he will also collaborate with the dean of science, Dr. Deborah MacLatchy, and department chairs to prepare a collective vision for the faculty, focusing on its internal and external opportunities and challenges.
“David’s wide-ranging familiarity with Laurier and its practices will be a great asset to me, given my relative newness to the university,” said MacLatchy, who came to Laurier in July 2007 to be dean of science. “I am really looking forward to David joining the administrative team in science.”
Vaughan is a member of Laurier’s Senate Finance Committee and is former chair of the Mathematics Department. His research interests include athematical statistics, design and analysis of experiments, real analysis, Fourier and harmonic analysis, and modern applications of mathematics.
