Steelworkers Say Stop Toxic International Trade Deals: Union to Leaflet Public Outside David Emerson's Constituency Office

VANCOUVER - As more toxic products have been recalled from the Canadian marketplace, the United Steelworkers (USW) is calling on the federal government to halt Toxic International Traded deals and get tough with companies that import toxic goods into Canada.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has promised new laws to protect Canadian consumers from being exposed to toxic products. But The USW says Harper and International Trade Minister David Emerson have missed the point. Unregulated international trade agreements negotiated by the Canadian government have not ensured that children and families are protected from toxic toys, foods and other goods

Today USW members will leaflet the public outside Emerson's constituency office starting at 11 a.m.
