Waterloo's Children's Museum Introduces New Generation To World-Renowned Work

WATERLOO - A new exhibit on chimpanzees is introducing a new generation of children to the groundbreaking work of primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall.

The Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall runs January 25 to May 25, 2008 at the Children's Museum in Waterloo. <<

The 6,000 square foot-exhibit's program for children includes:

- birthday party sleepovers
- storytelling using books from the Jane Goodall Foundation
- videos and
- hands-on workshops. >>

The adult program includes a speaker series and videos. Visitors will learn about Goodall's work with chimpanzees since she began studying them in 1960. For more information, visit the museum's website: www.thechildrensmuseum.ca/chimps.

The McGuinty government provided $75,000 to the Children's Museum to help promote the exhibition.

"Culture and tourism are integral part of the province's economy, and the McGuinty government is proud to play our part. Innovative exhibitions like this one add to the quality of life of our province."

"The Children's Museum has done a remarkable job of promoting Kitchener-Waterloo as a unique, family-friendly cultural tourism destination, and this exhibition is sure to draw even more visitors to the area," added Kitchener-Centre MPP John Milloy.

"We are pleased to present the Remarkable World of Jane Goodall and, with the help of the Ontario government, we will be able to invite and attract more families across Ontario to Waterloo Region," said David Marskell, the Chief Executive Officer of the Children's Museum.
