CP Rail Ratification Edorsement

CAW Leadership at CP Endorse New Tentative Agreement

TORONTO - CAW leadership from Local 101 at CP Rail has unanimously endorsed the new tentative agreement. This means that all elected local leadership will be recommending the ratification of the deal.

The agreement was reached early Sunday morning after several weeks of around the clock bargaining. The two sides had been in negotiations since early fall.

"I am proud of the determination of the bargaining committee and membership to negotiate this tremendous agreement, in spite of the many demands the company made for concessions against our union," said Tom Murphy, president of CAW Local 101.

Approximately 60 CAW local leaders from CP locations across Canada converged in Toronto this morning to vote on the deal. Details of the agreement will be released after the ratification meetings to take place over the next two weeks.

"This excellent agreement recognizes the incredible efforts by our members at CAW Local 101 and puts in place protections for the future for our Skilled Trades groups," said CAW President Buzz Hargrove. "We look forward to the ratification meetings with our members to explain the contents of the agreement."
