MLS® Transactions Support Local Charities
Kitchener-Waterloo - The 7,526 sales recorded through the MLS® system of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board generated $15,052 for charity in 2007.
Each year the members of the Board set aside $2 from each MLS® transaction to support their community. All applicants must be a registered charity with a "shelter-related" or "basic quality of life" mandate; the organization must strengthen the quality of life in the community by supporting those in need, and 100% of the donation must be used within the community.
The recipient for this year's donation is K-W Out of the Cold, a program operated by local churches between November and April that offers overnight shelter, food and warm clothing to those in need. During the 2006/2007 season the churches provided 22,736 hot meals and slept 10,913.

Gaye Males (right), Chair of the Board's Public Relations Committee, presented the cheque to Judy Zieske and Mike Savage, representing the K-W Out of the Cold a program.
