Snow Reports and More in the Palm of Your Hand

Banff Lake Louise Tourism Mobilizes with Text Messaging Campaign

BANFF NATIONAL PARK, AB - Presidential hopefuls use it to connect with their supporters, television viewers use it to vote for their American Idol, and now Banff Lake Louise Tourism is attracting visitors to Banff National Park using this exploding communications channel. Visitors can now subscribe to up-to-date information on snow & ski conditions, events, and festivals delivered as text messages direct to their cell phones. Using everything from business cards to billboards and social networking, visitors are offered free mobile alerts which provide exclusive, up-to-the-minute resort news prior to their trip and while visiting Banff National Park.

"Our destination is committed to being a tourism leader; and part of that focus is ensuring that the experiences our visitors have is world class. Embracing this new communication channel further demonstrates our commitment to being a forward-thinking destination," says Julie Canning, CEO and President of Banff Lake Louise Tourism. "While still relatively new to Canada, mobile marketing presents a huge opportunity to personalize content for travellers to the world's finest national park."

By simply sending a text message with the word "snow" to 32075, visitors can Answer the Call of the Mountains. International and American mobiles can text "snow" to 7789979723 to receive the same update. Subscribers can also visit www.banfflakelouise.com/text to customize the content and date range for their alerts. Banff Lake Louise Tourism has partnered with Vancouver-based Quick Mobile to launch this pilot program.
