The Aud to host National Ringette League game during weekend tournament
KITCHENER - The Kitchener Ringette Association is hosting a weekend tournament - the Kitchener Golden Ring - and a National Ringette League (NRL) game at The Aud on Feb. 9.
The NRL game, between the Cyclones de Quebec and the Waterloo Wildfire, begins at 7 p.m. at the Dom Cardillo Arena.
This is the second year that Kitchener has hosted a league game for the NRL, as teams typically play at different arenas to help promote the sport.
There will be a Belle B playoff game, for ages 16 to 18, immediately following the NRL game. Belle B is the top level of regional play.
The weekend tournament will feature 53 teams playing in eleven age divisions - from six to adult - for a total of 108 games on the four ice pads from the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 8 to Sunday afternoon.
This is an Ontario Ringette Association sanctioned tournament for which teams apply to attend.
This will also be the second year organizers have included a series of non-competitive exhibition games and activities for six- and seven-year-olds, with six teams participating.
All games are open to the public.
Tickets for the NRL game will be available at the door. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for ages 16 and under. Admission is free for kids who wear their ringette team jerseys.

The Kitchener Ringette Association has run the Golden Ring Tournament for the past 34 years.
The National Ringette League (NRL), which operates under Ringette Canada, is the showcase league for ringette in Canada with 17 teams participating in two conferences - a Western Conference with seven teams and an Eastern Conference with ten teams. The league is open to players age 19 and over at the 'AA' division level.
Internationally, ringette is played in a half dozen other countries around the world.
