Toyota Yaris and Toyota Prius win 2008 ecoENERGY for Vehicle Awards

TORONTO - Toyota Canada Inc. today announced that it received two awards for class-leading fuel efficiency from the federal government's 2008 ecoENERGY for Vehicle Awards program. Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency announced the winning vehicles today at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
Toyota's class-leading vehicles for fuel efficiency are as follows:

- 2008 Toyota Yaris (manual transmission): Most Fuel Efficient Sub-Compact, with a rating of 7.0 L/100 km city and 5.5 L/100 km highway. The Yaris has won this category three years in a row... ever since the funky European-influenced model went on sale in Canada.

- 2008 Toyota Prius: Most Fuel Efficient Mid-Size, with a rating of 4.0 L/100 km city and 4.2 L/100 km highway. The revolutionary Prius is the world's first mass-produced gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle; it has become an icon for hybrid vehicles worldwide.

"Canadian drivers are smart and environmentally-conscious consumers, and they rely on information like the ecoENERGY fuel efficiency ratings when they shop for a new vehicle. That's why winning these awards is such an important honour for Toyota," noted Stephen Beatty, Managing Director at Toyota Canada Inc. "On behalf of everyone at Toyota in Canada, I'd like to thank the ecoENERGY program for these awards."

The 2008 Toyota Yaris and 2008 Toyota Prius are on display in the Toyota booth and the ecoENERGY area at the Canadian International Auto Show. The show opens to the public February 15th and runs until February 24th.
