Who Let The Dogs Out?
Teams, fans pour into Cannington as the 4th Annual Dog Sled Race & Winter
Carnival kicks into high gear
CANNINGTON - Get ready to mush, race fans: The 4th Annual Cannington Dog Sled Race & Winter Carnival is finally here!
Race teams from across North America have already started arriving for
the three-day event taking place just minutes north of the GTA - an "all bark,
no frostbite" experience the whole family will enjoy.
"Come for the ice sculpture competition, the toilet seat toss, the racing
action or the Metis culture - but get yourself to Cannington this weekend,"
says Ben Deith, Chair of the race committee and President of the Cannington
Business Association.
Deith extended a special invitation to join several thousand other race
fans Saturday at 1:15 p.m. in Cannington's downtown core for a historic photo
opportunity of gigantic proportions. Digital copies of the image will be made
available to participants free-of-charge following the event, he says.
"Throughout it all, we have petting zoos and treasure hunts for the kids,
the Steam Whistle Beer Garden/Ocala Wine Bar for the grown-ups, an outdoor
vendor's mall for the enthusiasts and some of the best dog sled racing action
you'll see this year," he says.
"You don't have to be a husky to have a howling good time at this year's
Dog Sled Race & Winter Carnival; just be here and the whole pack will be
wagging their tails by the end of the day!"
Passes for adults are $8 at the gate and children 13 and under are just $2 each.
The 4th Annual Cannington Dog Sled Races & Winter Carnival February 22nd, 23rd and 24th; for more information, visit www.mycannington.com or call toll-free 1-877-246-1266.
