Human Resources - Attracting Talent

Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc attends U.S. digital media conference with two other Ontario Organizations to woo talent to Ontario Canada

Waterloo Region – Representatives from Canada’s Technology Triangle Inc are attending the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, February 18-22 to attract foreign investment and talent to Waterloo Region, known as Canada’s Technology Triangle. Also attending are partner organizations in Toronto and Ottawa from the Ontario Technology Corridor (OTC).

“Through meetings with key prospects we’ve targeted in global companies, we have an excellent opportunity to solicit foreign investment to our region as well as attract significant talent,” says Bill Elliot, director of business development for CTT Inc. “With the growing focus in Waterloo Region on digital imaging and media, we are capitalizing on this opportunity to learn about new technologies on the leading edge of gaming and multimedia.”

The OTC brings together Ontario’s top three information and communication technology (ICT) clusters – Greater Toronto Area, Waterloo Region and Ottawa Region. The Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance (GTMA), along with CTT Inc and Ottawa Global Marketing promote this unique and important technology corridor to the world. The OTC receives financial support from the Federal Government’s Community Investment Support Program (CISP) and the Province of Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The OTC partners will be participating at the Canada Stand along with MEDT, the Ontario Media Development Corporation and Interactive Ontario. They will also be guests of the Canadian Consulate in San Francisco at a Hockey Night @ GDC 2008 reception.

Frozen North Productions, an independent game development studio based out of Waterloo, is also attending. Incorporated in September 2006, the company is supported through investment from Infusion Angels. Infusion Angels is the sister company of Infusion Development, a New York and Toronto based IT consultancy founded and operated by University of Waterloo graduates, who returned to Waterloo to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs.
