Advancement VP accepts new post at prestigious private school

WATERLOO — Scott Hayter is leaving his position as vice-president of university advancement at Wilfrid Laurier University to become executive director of advancement at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ont.

Hayter has played a key role in Laurier’s development activities since joining the university in 2004. In his new position at St. Andrew’s, he will oversee the alumni relations, communications and fundraising activities for one of Canada’s most prestigious private preparatory schools.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Laurier and I am very proud of the advancement team’s many accomplishments,” said Hayter. “However, the opportunity at St. Andrew’s and the fit for me is too good to pass up. The college is an excellent, well-respected preparatory school and my mandate will be to grow the advancement area to a new level of success.”

Hayter also noted that the location of St. Andrew’s College, about 45 minutes south of Barrie, allows him to be closer to his family and cottage.

Hayter made a significant contribution to Laurier’s fundraising efforts during his time at the university. Laurier celebrated an important milestone last fall, having raised over $100 million in the Century campaign since the university’s last official campaign in 1997. Also in 2007 the university’s Annual Giving campaign surpassed $1 million for the first time.

“Scott’s contributions to Laurier will benefit the university for years to come,” said Laurier president Dr. Max Blouw. “I thank him for his hard work and dedication, and I wish him the very best in his new role at St. Andrew’s.”

Hayter will remain at Laurier until starting his new position at St. Andrew’s College in June.
