Lowe-Martin named Most Environmentally Progressive Printer in Canada

OTTAWA - The Lowe-Martin Group was presented with the GOLD AWARD for Most Environmentally Progressive Printer in Canada at the 3rd Annual Environmental Printing Awards, held on February 27, 2008 at the Palais Royal in Toronto. The prestigious award was presented by PrintAction magazine with former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, Stephen Lewis, as keynote speaker. Lowe-Martin was chosen based on their holistic strategy to lessen the environmental impact of their products and processes.

Environmental sustainability has been a cornerstone of Lowe-Martin's corporate philosophy since 1999. Based on a balance between ecology and economy, Lowe-Martin's Environmental Business Strategy focuses on eliminating the gaps between ecological values and environmental performance, while considering the financial growth of the business. Along with their Eco Logo and FSC certifications, the Lowe-Martin Group has also built numerous eco-friendly features into their new facility on Hunt Club Road in Ottawa.

Lowe-Martin has been recognized as an industry leader by encouraging investment in greener processes, by sharing ideas and best practices, and by demonstrating that environmental sustainability provides a competitive advantage. Celebrating their centennial in 2008, the company continues to advance a clear strategy to reduce its ecological footprint by implementing meaningful solutions that do much more than pay lip service to the cause of environmentalism.

"We have committed to stringently measuring our carbon footprint and setting aggressive targets to reduce it over the next 10 years. We have prospered for 100 years now, and understand that in order to thrive for another century, we must protect our resources and our planet, and give back to the community that has assisted in our growth. We are deeply honoured to be recognized for our efforts," says Lowe-Martin's President and CEO Ward Griffin.

Headquartered in Ottawa, the Lowe-Martin Group provides progressive print and communications solutions including offset, digital and security printing; extensive in-house pre-press and bindery services; e-business solutions; as well as warehousing and logistics. The Group's focus on superior service, extraordinary performance and sustainable growth has gained them recognition as one of North America's premier print producers. Lowe-Martin operates full-service production and sales operations in Ottawa and Toronto. The company also has satellite sales and production facilities in New York City and Galway, Ireland.
