Hydro One Brampton receives prestigious LDC Performance Excellence Award

TORONTO - Hydro One Brampton announced it had received the 2008 Local Distribution Company (LDC) Performance Excellence Award. The award was presented to Hydro One Brampton in an awards ceremony at the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA) Annual General Meeting in Toronto earlier this week.

The LDC Performance Excellence Award is presented to a member of the EDA that has distinguished itself amongst its fellow members for performance excellence in five categories: Occupational Health and Safety, Operational Excellence, Financial Operations, Retail Strategies for Conservation and Demand Management, and Contribution to the Community.

"Hydro One Brampton strives for excellence in all that we do because of our commitment to our customers, the community and to each other," said Roger Albert, President and CEO, Hydro One Brampton. "This award is a welcome recognition by the industry and is a direct result of that commitment." The Company has earned numerous awards in the past two years, and has been recognized by the City of Brampton for its commitment to safety and waste reduction.

Hydro One Brampton sponsors and participates in many charitable events each year, and also gives back to the community by sponsoring projects ranging from annual scholarships for Brampton High School students to new equipment for youth recreation in local parks, and at the Brampton YMCA. Hydro One Brampton employees have raised more than $133,000 for the local hospital and various other charities in 2008.

Albert says the Company has also been focusing on sound environmental management. "In the past three years, Hydro One Brampton customers have saved 57,530 megawatt-hours through our conservation programs," Albert said. During the past three years, Hydro One Brampton has participated in 20 community projects promoting energy conservation, including a retrofit program for business customers and the PowerHouse Program to assist residential customers ready to install renewal energy projects.

Albert also noted the Company has the lowest controllable expenses of large LDC utilities in Ontario, while earning a customer satisfaction rating of 93% in the latest survey.
