Conestoga professor presents at CLAN Workshop
Kitchener - The Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations (CIPI) held its Canadian Laser Application Network (CLAN) Workshop, March 11 12, 2009, at the Marriott in Downtown Toronto.
The workshop focused on developing an industry-academic network in laser processing and laser characterization in Canada.
Among the faculty presenting for the College Training & Research section of the workshop was Conestoga College’s Hamidreza Karbasi, who made a presentation entitled Laser Engraving: Determination of Optimal Laser Settings Using a Laser-Material Interaction Data Base and a Computer Simulation Package.
Aside from presenting, Karbasi was also the session chair for the college presentations, as well as, a member of the CLAN organizing committee.
Other college faculty presenting at the workshop were Niagara College’s Alex McGlashan, who presented Use of Photonics Technology to Control Disease Spread in Greenhouse Production and Ilya Golub from Algonqiun College, who made a presentation entitled Beam Engineering: From Diffraction Free to Absorption Free.
