Globalstar Receives 2009 Innovation Award From Mobile Satellite Users Association

Company Recognized for Bringing Lifesaving Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) to the Mainstream Consumer Market and Elevating the Satellite Industry With SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger

MILPITAS, Calif., - Globalstar, Inc., the world's largest provider of mobile satellite voice and data services to businesses, governments and individuals, today announced that its highly acclaimed SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(tm) product is the sole recipient of the 2009 Mobile Satellite Users Association (MSUA) Innovation Award. The award will be presented to Globalstar executives at the sixth international Mobile Satellite Users Conference and Exhibition (MSUA-6), which is being held in conjunction with the SATELLITE 2009 Conference and Exhibition taking place March 25-27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

"We are honored to be recognized by the international mobile satellite services community for our contribution to consumers, and to the satellite industry overall," said Tom Colby, chief operating officer, Globalstar. "While certain users and select industries have long recognized the benefits of satellite communications, our SPOT product is a breakthrough that finally brings together satellite-based safety and remote messaging capabilities, in a form factor and price point we expect is highly appealing to mainstream consumers around the world."

Commenting on the awards, MSUA President Tim Farrar noted, "In 2009, MSUA recognizes Globalstar's SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger for bringing lifesaving MSS to a much wider consumer market, selling tens of thousands of units even in today's challenging economic times. As a result of its entry into the market, Globalstar's SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger product has also helped elevate the visibility of the entire Mobile Satellite industry. We are pleased to honor this innovative product."

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger is the world's first and only handheld personal safety device that provides a comprehensive satellite GPS safety service with its subscription-based SPOT Assist platform. SPOT combines reliable commercial satellite messaging and GPS location technologies designed to send the user's GPS location to friends, family or co-workers along with a custom satellite text or email message and a link to Google Maps(tm). In an emergency, SPOT users can transmit an alert notification (9-1-1) to a global emergency coordination center from virtually any location - including some of the most remote locations around the globe - independently of cellular networks. Since its introduction in late 2007, the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger has helped initiate close to 145 rescues, many which resulted in lives saved, and has transmitted more than seven million "peace-of-mind" and "track me" messages worldwide.

The sixth international Mobile Satellite Users Conference and Exhibition, MSUA-6, provides a unique opportunity for users in mobile satellite communications. MSUA-6 is the only forum devoted exclusively to the mobile satellite industry, and features panel discussions and demonstrations of satellite terminals from many companies. Tickets to the luncheon are included with the MSUA-6 Conference registration, or can be purchased a la carte.
