Retail Sales Recover

The January retail sales numbers presented a welcome piece of data in what has otherwise been a endless stream of poor economic results. Clearly this alone does not indicate that we are at the end of this recession, nor even the beginning of the end. However, it does remind us that no recession moves down forever, and even in an unprecedented downturn such as this companies need to look for opportunities to grow their business.

Leading CEO’s have long ago recognized the impact this economy will have on their business and made the necessary and painful corrective action. They have also taken this opportunity to reassess their corporate strategy and realign their financial and human resources to grow while their competitors are struggling to survive.

For those businesses that are still trying to find their way through this economic downturn, it is not too late to find a new path to growth. This economic challenge gives you licence to implement dramatic changes and your employees, and creditors will reward bold investments in your future. Canada remains ahead of the pack in terms of our banking industry and this too provides an advantage to those that unlock the value on their balance sheet to expand into new markets, new products, or even buy a competing entity.

Don’t let this once in a life time opportunity pass you by.
