Letter to the Editor
Wording minimizes the impact that these layoffs
I would like to make a comment to the article "Successive Frozen Funding..." (March 25, 2009). This article states that 3.7 full time equivalent staff have been laid off as a result of lack of funding... this number is accurate but does not give an image of the number of individuals who received notification. On March 24, 2009 KidsAbility handed pink slips to 10 employees. This number also does not represent the previous employees who have been cut in the summer of 2008. The wording in this article severely minimizes the impact that these layoffs will have on the lives of not only the employees who have lost their jobs, but also the children who are waiting for services. All staff who received notices are the front line therapists providing direct service to children and the staff come across three different distinct and equally important disciplines of allied health.
