TORONTO - Greg Ross, President and CEO of AEGON Capital Management Inc. (ACM), is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen P. Carlin as Senior Vice President and Head of Equities, effective March 23, 2009.

Carlin, a 25-year industry veteran, is well known in institutional and discretionary investment management circles. Prior to joining ACM, Steve was with KBSH Capital Management Inc. for nine years where he specialized in Canadian equity management.

"We were looking for an equity manager whose approach matched ours. We chose Steve for his growth strategy and sell discipline. His growth-oriented style with a keen eye on downside management is consistent with the philosophy that has seen our assets grow to over $9 billion CDN," says Ross.

Carlin will oversee all of ACM's institutional and discretionary equity management and retail investments, including imaxx(TM) Canadian Balanced, imaxx(TM) Canadian Equity, imaxx(TM) Canadian Dividend, imaxx(TM) Canadian Fixed Pay and imaxx(TM) Canadian Small Cap Funds offered by AEGON Fund Management Inc., and the corresponding segregated fund and Universal Life products offered by Transamerica Life Canada.
