CIGI hosts The Agenda with Steve Paikin

Waterloo – The Agenda with Steve Paikin will be broadcasted from The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) on March 30, as part of TVO’s On the Road tour.

Through these tours, TVO’s flagship current affairs program is examining the social impact of the current economic down turn on Ontario communities, with the City of Waterloo being spotlighted as an example of a thriving, innovative economy with a positive economic outlook as a result of its high-tech sector.

Special guests for this production include Jim Balsillie, CIGI Chair of the Board and co-CEO of Research In Motion; The Honourable John Wilkinson, minister of research and innovation; and Richard Florida, professor and head of the Martin Prosperity Institute at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Florida is best known for his work in developing his concept of the creative class and its ramifications in urban regeneration. His theory asserts that metropolitan regions with high concentrations of high-tech workers, artists and a group he describes as “high bohemians,” correlate with a higher level of economic development. He is author of the bestselling books The Rise of the Creative Class, Cities and the Creative Class and The Flight of the Creative Class.

The audience will be seated at 7:30 pm, followed by the taping from 8:00 – 9:00 pm. For more information about The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road, please visit: www.tvo.org/agendacamp
